We've got something to celebrate! Join us for Lights On Afterschool 2025
This year, New Jersey turned the spotlight on afterschool like never before. Governor Phil Murphy officially proclaimed October 23 as “Lights On Afterschool Day” for the state, shining a public endorsement on our work and recognizing the vital role afterschool programs play in nurturing youth, supporting families, and strengthening communities.
Such a proclamation is more than symbolic. It elevates our collective voice, gives us a platform to hold events with momentum, and signals to policymakers and communities alike that afterschool programs are essential to the fabric of New Jersey. With the governor’s backing, the message gets louder: these programs matter.
As programs across the state open doors, light up landmarks, and engage their communities on October 23, let’s carry that energy with purpose. Use this moment to rally support, to tell stories of impact, and to invite new partners into the work. Because when the state recognizes us, it’s our turn to show up — boldly and proudly.
Let’s make Lights On 2025 a celebration that echoes far beyond one day — and reminds everyone: when afterschool thrives, New Jersey shines.
